Ben Affleck refuses son’s Lamborghini request after 2022 car crash
Ben Affleck told his 14‑year‑old son Samuel that he won’t buy a yellow Lamborghini, recalling the 2022 incident when the teen backed the luxury SUV into a BMW at a Los Angeles dealership.
Ben Affleck shut down his teenage son Samuel’s request for a Lamborghini, citing a past mishap where the boy reversed a rented Lamborghini into another car. The refusal highlights the actor’s limits on lavish spending for his children despite their high‑profile lifestyle.
During a recent interview on Kerry Washington’s podcast, Ben Affleck bluntly told his 14‑year‑old son Samuel that he would not be buying the teenager a yellow Lamborghini. The denial comes after a 2022 incident in which the then‑10‑year‑old backed a rented Lamborghini Urus into a white BMW at a Los Angeles luxury‑car dealership.
What we know
- Samuel Affleck, 14, asked his father for a Lamborghini, a request that Affleck rejected on the podcast.
- In June 2022, while visiting 777 Exotics in Los Angeles with his father and then‑fiancée Jennifer Lopez, Samuel sat in the driver’s seat of a bright yellow Lamborghini Urus.
- The boy accidentally put the vehicle in reverse, causing it to back into a white BMW. The Lamborghini was rented for $1,475 per day and valued at $250,000 at the time.
- Representatives for Affleck and 777 Exotics told the New York Post that neither vehicle sustained damage, and an employee said there were “no hard feelings” after the fender‑bender.
- Affleck has previously refused to purchase other high‑priced items for Samuel, including a $6,000 pair of Dior × Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers.
"My son’s like, ‘Dad, you should get a Lambo,’" Affleck said on the podcast.
Affleck added that his older children have taught him to be cautious about indulgent requests, noting they often say “no” to such demands. He also joked about the cost of the sneakers, saying, "That's a lot of lawns you gotta mow there," when Samuel admired the $6,000 shoes in a March 2025 Instagram video.
Background
Ben Affleck, 54, shares three children—Samuel, 14; Violet, 20; and Fin, 17—with ex‑wife Jennifer Garner. Affleck married Jennifer Lopez in July 2022, weeks after the dealership incident; the couple finalized their divorce in January 2025. The Lamborghini incident received media attention at the time, with photos showing Samuel exiting the vehicle and Affleck checking for damage.
Affleck’s comments on the podcast were made during a conversation with Washington about their shared work on the film "Animals." The discussion turned to parenting, luxury, and the pressures of raising children in the public eye.
