El Chusmero exists to publish the stories other outlets avoid. That only works if readers can trust that what we publish is real. These are the rules every story follows.

1. Every claim has a source

Each article lists its sources at the end: public records, court documents, official statements, on-the-record interviews, published data or reporting by other news organizations. If we can't point to where a fact comes from, we don't publish it.

2. Facts, allegations and rumors are labeled

We clearly distinguish between what is confirmed, what someone alleges, and what is circulating online but unverified. We never present an accusation as a proven fact, and we don't accuse anyone of a crime unless there is a public charge, filing or official record.

3. No invented numbers, quotes or events

Figures, dollar amounts and quotes appear only when they come from a cited source. Headlines must reflect what the article actually shows.

4. Right of reply

People and organizations we write about critically can send their response to editor@elchusmero.net. Relevant responses are added to the story.

5. Use of automation

We may use software tools to monitor trends, transcribe or summarize source material. Every story is reviewed by an editor against its sources before it is published.

6. Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and add a correction note at the bottom of the article saying what changed and when. Report errors to editor@elchusmero.net with the article link.
